This week’s School Board elections brought a mix of outcomes – an unseated incumbent, an unsurprising win by a favorite and two stalemates that will be settled in the November election.
In District 1, Bill Person, a retired administrator, and Steve Cona, CEO of Associated Builders and Contractors Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, will compete in the runoff vote on Nov. 6.
Similarly, in District 6, a November 6 runoff was called for Henry Washington and Karen Perez after neither earned more than 50 percent of votes.
In District 2, Stacy Hahn overtook the incumbent and current School Board Chair, Sally Harris, winning with a large enough margin to require a runoff in November.
In District 4, incumbent Melissa Snively won her second term after defeating LaShonda Davison in a highly predicted outcome.
New board members will take their seats in mid-November.
