HHS Today

Sarah Ellis
This year is senior Sarah Ellis’s first year as a reporter for HHS Today. Ellis is looking forward to incorporating her passion for politics, writing and photography into her work as a staff member. For her first three years at Hillsborough, she rowed for the school's crew team, but she decided to take the last year off to put more focus into other things, such as journalism.

For as long as she can remember, Ellis has loved movies. It wasn't until middle and high school, however, that she became a movie enthusiast. Some of her favorite movies include Call Me by Your Name and Taxi Driver. She believes that “movies are special because they're this wonderful culmination of all of the arts in one place.”

When Ellis goes to visit her dad in Falls Church, Virginia she likes to take the metro into D.C. and visit the art museums, historical landmarks and restaurants. She also loves to find independent book stores while there, as reading is one of her favorite hobbies. Her favorite books are One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Beautiful Boy.

A life-changing event for Ellis was in March of 2018 when she attended the "March for our lives" march in Washington, D.C. While she supports an abundance of political issues, gun control is one of her top priorities.

While Ellis doesn't know exactly what field of work she wants to go into, she knows that whatever she ends up doing will be focused around photography and writing. Ellis hopes to one day live on the West Coast or possibly abroad somewhere.

You can find Ellis exercising her photography skills on her Instagram (@sarahellis027) and spouting off about the latest political mishap on her Twitter (also @sarahellis027).
