Terriers fall short to the Chiefs 19-13

Dontae Hopkins catches a pass and runs with it for a first down.

Within the first half of the first quarter, the Chamberlain Chiefs were able to put up 7 points.

Moving into the second quarter, the Chiefs put up another 6 points with 8:41 left before the half.

The Terriers went into halftime trailing behind with a score of 13-0.

The third quarter wasn’t looking too good either. The Chiefs didn’t put up and points and the Terriers didn’t either, until the last 20 seconds of the quarter. Quarterback Charlie Dean ran in a touchdown, and kicker Zach Long made the extra point. Leaving the score 13-7.

With less than 6 minutes left in the last quarter, the Terriers scored again but missed the extra point because of a failed hold and the game goes into overtime 13-13.

With the close game keeping everyone on edge, the Chiefs end up scoring a touchdown and they win by 6 points, 19-13.

“As a team, we came together,” said senior Mike Austin, “but we didn’t go the extra mile to win”.
