Hillsborough tennis wins 6-1 against Armwood

The girls tennis team is already half-way through the season and with two overall wins thus far they continue to prevail. The team has taken in a few new members this year and has very high hopes for the remainder of the season.

In the first singles match of the afternoon, senior Tiffany Nguyen won against her opponent with a score of 8-0. Junior Nicola Moreland also won her singles match with a score of 8-0. Navya Bandharam and Chidera Ibewuike both won their singles’ matches with scores of 8-1. In the first doubles match of the afternoon, Bandharam and Chidera loss with a score of 4-8. In the last doubles match, junior Morgan Bott and sophomore Hannah Powers won with a score of 8-3.

After a victory in her in singles match, junior Nicola Moreland felt “pretty great, starting the season off with a win, that’s always a good feeling”. Moreland’s goal for the season “is to beat King, which is one of the best teams in the district since it is very challenging to beat them. So far playing for Hillsborough I have not won against King so I’m looking forward to that game this year”. When asked about her goals for the remainder of the season, senior Tiffany Nguyen said “it’s my last season so I figured to just make it the best I can”.

As the season continues, Powers said “I want to get better because I started playing again, I used to play when I was little but then I stopped”.

The next tennis match is Mar. 1 against King High School.
