Hillsborough loses to Plant in home opener

Linebacker Jahaad Malphus 'chomps' toward a Plant player after a play in the make-up game against Plant.

Hillsborough lost to Plant Saturday night, the final score 9-7.

The game was initially scheduled for Friday the 25th, after being delayed for an hour and a half due to extreme weather, officials decided to move the game to Saturday night at 6. Officially being the second year in a row that the game against Plant would be affected by rain. Kick off began on time, only for the game to be delayed shortly after, again due to inclement weather.

Once the game was resumed, things took off quickly, running back  Dontae Hopkins broke through the Plant defense to score the only Hillsborough touchdown of the night and getting the Terriers on the board first.

Just before the end of the first quarter, the Plant offense was able to make a huge pass towards the end zone putting Plant within their ten yard line to start the second quarter where they were then able to tie the game.

It was a long three quarters of back and fourth possessions, late in the third a Plant defender sacked quarterback Tyler Thomas in the Plant end zone giving them the final two points on the board and the lead in the game.

The Terriers are away next week at Plant City, kick off is Friday Sept. 1st at 7:30 pm.
