Baseball prepares for Saladino Tournament

The Terriers have a pre-game huddle.

During spring break, the baseball team will be competing in the Saladino Tournament.

“Technically it’s the first three days of spring break, if you get to advance that’s great but if not you still have plenty of time to have your spring break,” said coach Kenny White.

The first three games will be Saturday, March 10 against Blake; Monday, March 12 against Plant; and Tuesday, March 13 against Plant City. All three games are at Brandon High School and start at 10 a.m.

Many of the players are looking forward to this tournament, including Jarrod Cande (12).

“The way we hit last night (in a 4-3 win over Steinbrenner), we should be fine honestly,” he said.

The tournament has been around for decades. White said, “It’s something that’s been going on in Tampa for 30 years, I played in it myself so I’ve always looked forward to it each year, the kids do as well.”

“Saladino is always a fun tournament,” he added, “especially for the seniors and it is great for the county. There are 32 teams in it this year I think, private schools to public schools.”
