Hillsborough beats Brandon, 48-7
Hillsborough won its eighth consecutive game Friday night. After its win against Brandon High School, the football team will be going to playoffs.
On the first play of the game, wide receiver Delshon Bowman recovered the opening kickoff fumbled by the Eagles and returned it for a touchdown. Christian Narnjo cleared the extra point, and the Terriers were in the lead, 7-0.
Running back Duran Bell brought in the second touchdown. Then, wide receiver Cj Williams grabbed the first pick-six of the night and with a two point conversion ran in by Duran Bell, the Terriers ended the first quarter 21-0.
In the second quarter, Bell ran in two touchdowns. Naranjo cleared both extra points. The Eagles were then able to briefly break through the defense and score their only touchdown of the night. Leon Gatlin grabbed the second pick-six, and with Naranjo’s extra point that brought the score to 42-7, the first half of the game ended.
With a running clock, the defense was able to hold the Eagles back throughout the final half. Javontae Bass stole the third pick-six and brought the score to 48-7 with a good extra point; the Terries ended the game with a win, 49-7.
The Terriers’ last regular season game will be held at Armwood on Oct. 28.
