Photo Story: Hispanic Heritage Performance

After nearly a month and a half of practice and hard work, Hillsborough High’s Latino success club performed at our auditorium on Friday, October 8th.

From Cumbia to Bachata to Reggaeton, this group of individuals danced their heart out in celebration of Hispanic heritage month. These dances originated from cultures of Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean and are a symbolic representation of cultural beliefs. “It’s pretty important to recognize any culture, especially ones that have impact in your life. Culture can bring us together and gives a unique aspect to our lives,” Freshman Miki Kimura said.

Hispanic educator, Monica Sleeter, started Latino success club three years ago in hopes to see more knowledge spread about Hispanic culture.

“Hispanics are the largest minority, which is why it is important to celebrate and bring to light to Hispanic heritage,” Sleeter said.
