Senior Briana Miele is delivering food to those in need
When it came time to figure out how to help during the COVID-19 pandemic, senior Briana Miele instantly knew what she could do. One of Miele’s passions is giving back to the community.
Prior to quarantine, she had been volunteering at a local food bank for years. “It pains me to see people struggling just to get something to eat, especially during these times. I am always looking out for everyone and if I see someone in need, I will do everything I can to help them,” she said about why she wanted to help.
Miele understands that the virus does not discriminate, and many people have lost their jobs as a result of it. So, she set out to help those in need as soon as she could. The people who receive food and help are usually appreciative that someone is taking the time out of their day to help them, she says.
In order to stay safe and help others at the same time, Miele adheres to social distancing guidelines and all recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). She drops the packages off at the end of the person’s driveway rather than coming face to face with them. She also wears gloves and a mask when packaging the food and delivering it. According to Miele, her goal is to limit contact as much as possible so she can help the greatest number of people she can while maintaining a safe environment for everyone involved.
