IB senior sendoff

After four long years in the IB program, it is time to say goodbye. On April 26, seniors celebrated their last day of high school with a series of festivities. The seniors were treated to a lunch in Positive Park and a sendoff assembly in which they presented paper plates to each homeroom teacher, heard the band play for the last time and ran through a tunnel formed by juniors. After the assembly, seniors had a chance to take pictures with underclassmen and reminisce about their fond memories at Hillsborough High School.

The assembly is a prized tradition that many IB students look forward to. However, running through the tunnel formed by juniors is the most sacred part. “It was surreal to run through the tunnel,” said Haley Mueller (12). “One moment your hands create the tunnels and you watch as other seniors make their way out of the school and on the way to the rest of their lives, then the next moment it was s and that was very exciting.”

Although it may have been their last day at school, there is much more ahead for the seniors. With a weekend to rest, the seniors will delve into two weeks of rigorous IB exams so that they can secure their IB diploma. “Mostly the exam schedule is really making it stressful because history and English, two big classes, are the same day and it’s five hours straight of essays.”
